Kate Sutton

Spa Therapist at Silky Oaks Lodge & Healing Waters Spa (Voyages Hotels and Resorts), Daintree Rainforest, Queensland

Diploma of Resort Management (Spa)

Kate Sutton lives in Port Douglas, Queensland and works in two different spas for the Voyages Hotels and Resorts chain.

"This is the career I've dreamt of since I started the Diploma of Resort Management (Spa). The location, the people and the lifestyle are the best parts of my job! Through Voyages Hotels and Resorts, I've also been able to travel to, and work on, Dunk Island and also Bedarra Island (both in Queensland), where I was the only therapist on the whole island.

It's so relaxing up here . . . Where else can you go out to the Great Barrier Reef, relax on the beach, or visit a waterfall in a tropical rainforest on your days off?"

Kate decided to do the Resort Management (Spa) course because it offered good opportunities to travel and to train across the variety of areas that make up a resort.

"There's such a great variety of work available in resorts throughout the world.  Through my course I've picked up the skills to work in different departments - spa, food and beverage, and reception - so I always have different job options.
