Global Training Services


William Angliss Institute is an international leader in human resources development for the tourism and hospitality industry, providing education, training and consultancy services. Students, industry partners and staff enjoy world-class opportunities through our comprehensive network of partnerships with industry and education and training institutions around the world. 

Institute staff are regularly involved in work on international tourism or HR projects overseas in countries such as China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, the Philippines, Singapore,  United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Macau, Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa and Thailand to assist in curriculum development, training delivery and other advisory roles in the tourism and hospitality sectors. 

 

International Campuses 

William Angliss has established joint venture campuses in China:  Shanghai University (Shanghai), Jinling Institute of Hotel Management (Nanjing), Zhejiang Tourism College (Hangzhou) and the China Tourism Management Institute (Tianjin). 
 
A representative office in Shanghai, China supports the development and expansion of these joint venture campuses. To date, over 800 students have enrolled in diploma and advanced diploma courses at these international campuses. Around 160 graduates have been placed in international hotels and tourism organisations and are claiming their places as future industry leaders. 

 

Industry Services for International Industry Partners

A wide variety of international human resource development and capacity-building services are available for the hospitality, tourism and food industries. Our industry specialists can work with you to develop a customised program to prepare your establishment for growth. These programs include:

  • training needs analysis
  • assistance with staff recruitment and induction
  • reviewing standard operating procedures
  • aligning training programs with your organisation's corporate structure
  • English language training for the hospitality, tourism and foods industries
  • competency -based operational and trainer training.

International Projects and Partnerships

William Angliss Institute is well known internationally for its training expertise in the hospitality, tourism and key food industry players. Through a number of major projects, partnerships and alliances, the Institute has demonstrated its ability to build the potential of these industries.

From 2006, William Angliss Institute will continue to assist the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Asia Pacific with its expansion in the region through the development of a range of human resource training solutions. 

These solutions will include:

  • a two-year, diploma-level Hospitality Management course offered in conjunction with Shanghai University
  • short, skill-based training programs in front office, housekeeping and food and beverage service for new and existing staff
  • customised pre-opening training programs for re-branded hotels and new properties and ongoing programs for existing properties
  • short term customised supervisory and management programs

Our portfolio of international education, tratining and consulting experince includes: 


Sands Venetian - Macau

The Institute, together with our Australian partner Box Hill Institute, has been working with the Sands Venetian in Macau to develop a range of human resource solutions to assist the group with its expansion in the region.

These solutions focus on the following initiatives:

  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training for supervisors and managers
  • gap analysis of customer service
  • superior guest service program short skills-based food and beverage, front office, housekeeping and retail training for new and existing staff.


Grand Lisboa - Macau

The Institute together with the Box Hill Institute has also assisted the SJM Group with the pre-opening training for the Grand Lisboa in Customer Services and Supervisory Training.
 


Australian Pacific Technical College

Working closely with Box Hill Institute and the Australian Government, the Institute is working towards the development of an Australian Technical, Vocational and Trades College in the Pacific region. The college includes a network of campuses in the Pacific Island countries who will offer Australian-standard qualifications in tourism and hospitality. Together, they will upgrade the supply of trade skills in the Pacific and enable greater labour mobility of skilled and semi-skilled workers in the region.



ASEAN Tourism Investment Study

The ASEAN Tourism Investment Study was recently completed by the Institute with funding from AusAid. The study involved all ten ASEAN member countries and reviewed the ASEAN tourism investment environment and recommended strategies to develop an integrated ASEAN Tourism Investment Zone (ATIZ). 
 


Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum

William Angliss Institute's expertise as curriculum specialists has been instrumental in developing Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum.  This project is funded by AusAid and aims to develop Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum (CATC), a Regional Qualifications Framework and a Skills Recognition System (RQFSRS) for the region.
 
This project will contribute significantly to synchronising and harmonising the priorities identified in the Vientiane Action Program (VAP), addressing Article 8 on Human Resource Development (HRD) by strengthening HRD activities through the development of a common ASEAN tourism curriculum.



Indonesia Australia Partnership for Skills Development (IAPSD) - Indonesia

In partnership with three Indonesian government ministries - Tourism, Manpower and Education - as well as major Indonesian industry associations, the Institute made a major contribution towards the development of a national training system for the Indonesian tourism and hospitality industries.



Saigontourist - Vietnam

The Institute developed a strategy to 'professionalise and Westernise' all enterprises covered by Saigontourist, Vietnam's leading tour operator. Our training specialists designed and delivered training programs for senior management, supervisors and operational staff, including Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hospitality Management and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training qualifications. 

 


Jiangsu Provisional Tourism Administration - China

William Angliss Institute training specialists designed and delivered training to government departments who are responsible for all tourism activity in the province of Jiangsu. The program included extensive skills upgrade training in both China and Australia. 



Supreme Commission for Tourism - Saudi Arabia

The Institute is developing competency-based training curriculum and instructional materials, and specialised English language programs, for ten tourism-related occupations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project will enhance Saudi Arabia's tourism training and enhance industry growth and efficiency through the resulting improved workforce capabilities.

 


Pacific Rim - Fellowship Program

William Angliss Institute of TAFE managed the RE Ross Trust Regional Fellowship Program in 2006. The program aimed to advance Vocational Education and Training in the Pacific region by providing intensive short-term skills upgrade programs to teachers and trainers in conjunction with teaching institutions in Victoria, Australia.



New Caledonia - Short Term Program

Since March 2000, William Angliss Institute has been delivering the AusAID-funded and ITA managed Short Course Training for New Caledonia project. The project involves developing English language capability, vocational and professional skills in Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts.
